Central Africa Community Journalists Network

About the forum

The Thematic Forum of the JCAC network engages in awareness raising, knowledge sharing, debate, and mutual learning on a wide range of issues related to the life of community radios, the profession of community journalists, and their impact on the sustainable development of local communities. The discussions are facilitated and moderated by the network secretariat under the supervision of the Center for Communication and Sustainable Development for All (CECOSDA).

How does it work?

Thematic discussions are open once a month, starting on the 5th of each month. People registered on the forum receive notification by email or phone and have 14 days to send their contribution by email to the address reseaujcac@gmail.com After ten days, the theme is closed to allow the secretariat to compile the contributions and share it with stakeholders. Contributions bearing the names and organizations of the contributors are shared by email to a large group of international partners and are available online for reference.

Who can contribute?

All stakeholders interested in community journalism and forum members can contribute by sending an article related to the open theme. The article should describe the facts and the prevailing situation in its context with sources of data, and ideally one or two photos. Articles are signed with the mention of their radio or organization.

Why contribute?

When you contribute by sending your contributions to a theme and sharing your realities on the ground, you gain visibility with partners and donors for participation in international conferences. You also contribute to the promotion of community journalism. Through your contributions, your radio can also receive support in terms of advertising or grants. The contribution report is published online with high visibility and distributed by email to over 1000 institutional contacts. Journalists who contribute are also prioritized for trainings funded by donors.
